Network Security EngineerOur client in the Minneapolis area is expanding their team! Several openings are available for network engineers with strong knowledge in network security.Senior level and mid level experience will be considered!This is a full-time opportunity after a 6-month contract but if you're only interested in full-time, let me know!The role will support both network and security aspects of the environment so strong networking experience is required. Knowledge in several of the following : DNS, DHCP, AD, SCCM, along with troubleshooting technologies, NIST, identity management, firewalls are required for this position.Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Implement, support, and evaluate security-focused tools and services.
  • Provide security oversight of systems related to the security impact of proposed modifications, additions, and technology refresh evolutions.
  • Advises users of the security features and procedures related to their role.
  • Evaluate and develop approach to solutions while proactively assessing items of risk and opportunities of vulnerability in the network.
  • Provide vulnerability remediation and mitigation recommendations.
  • Work directly with internal IT staff and customers to establish and enforce IT security best practices, protection objectives, process improvements and effective IT security controls.
  • Review existing security implementations, make recommendations for improvement and drive improvements through to completion.
  • Maintain operational and engineering guidelines and processes to directly support company's security architecture and design.
  • Support existing security solutions and partner with other technology teams for the implementation and integration of any new enhancements made to existing security solutions in support of improving overall enterprise security.
  • Ensure security tools and solutions hardware/software/devices are operating effectively and updated in a timely manner.
  • Support incident management processes and security monitoring alerts in preventing compromise of information assets.
  • Conduct security research and understand the latest threat techniques and support appropriate countermeasures, configurations, and awareness.
  • Monitor information security issues and ensure internal security controls for company are operating as intended. Participate in security audit and compliance activity.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal and consultative skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to implement information systems and produce and manipulate aggregate data.
  • Experience creating and updating technical support documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with other areas of IT and the business.
  • Good understanding of Information Technology, Information Assurance, and Information Security
  • Knowledge of application security principles.
  • Knowledge of malware prevention, detection, and reaction principles.
  • Experience with security engineering, identity management, endpoint security technologies, authentication, authorization, and application vulnerability remediation preferred.
  • Knowledge of information security standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001/27002, etc.), rules and regulations related to HIPAA information security preferred.
  • Knowledge of desktop and server configuration and administration preferred Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Science, Business or related field, or 4 years of experience equivalent to the position.
  • 7 years of related functional experience
