Job Description/Responsibilities

TheRenewable Sr Field Leaderis responsible for:

  • Leading employee safety by providing oversight for employees working to meet safety procedure and policy requirements to assure employees go home safe every day.
  • Leading employees to assure safety of the public through compliance with FERC dam safety requirements and the use of Emergency Action Plans and the Incident Command structure.
  • Maintaining compliance with the requirements of the FERC operating license and environmental regulations.
  • Optimizing the production process to make the most efficient use of the available water resource.
  • Training to and assuring the use of Conduct of Operations and Operational Excellence by employees.
  • Coordinating shift activities to ensure completion of the scheduled Operations and Maintenance work using SAP based work management processes.
  • Directing daily shift business decisions and coordinating daily shift activities for employees working at the Mio, Alcona, Loud, 5 Channels, Cooke and Foote hydroelectric dams.
  • Supervising two Renewable Field Leaders and an Administrative Assistant.
  • Working with Union leadership on matters involving the Working Agreement.
  • Assuring Operators maintain certification qualifications and proficiency.
  • Assuring operating procedures and documentation are up to date and accurate
  • Supporting and participating in regulator inspection activities, including FERC, MDEQ, MDNR, etc.
  • Meeting or exceeding performance objectives which include safety, regulatory compliance, first time quality and equipment reliability.
  • Supporting on site events for Company employees and the public such as tours, community events etc.
  • Leading the working clearance process and ensuring eSOMS lock out-tag out compliance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess:

  • A GED/high school diploma.
  • 6 or more years of applicable exempt work experience or equivalent non-exempt work experience, to include experience in electric transmission, distribution, and metering or generation and at least 3 years of successful performance in the Field Leader role or other comparable supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership experience.
  • Experience in plant operations.
  • A good working knowledge of power plant systems and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, good computer skills.
  • An understanding of the working agreement, conflict resolution, and safety and health regulations.
  • Analytical, teaming, and organization skills.
  • Position will require a security background check in order to complete a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) for access to secure computer systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in both a first line and second line supervision.
  • Maintenance and equipment knowledge in a power plant environment.
  • Proficiency in SAP utilizing work management.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the planning, organization, coordination, evaluating and supervision of employees assigned to the operation andmaintenance of hydroelectric generating plant facilities.
  • Recommends proposed changes and enhancements to systems and facilities operation; responds to complaints and requests for information; prepares and maintains reports of completedworkorders and the status ofworkin progress.
  • Inspects job sites to check on work progress, assures satisfactory completion and plans new assignments; prepares requisitions for operations and maintenance supplies, equipment and materials and supervises special projects as required.
  • Conducts regular safety meetings, participates as a member of safety committee; investigates and completes necessary incident reports, accident reports and causal analysis; maintains records, prepares and submits required reports for appropriate agencies. Implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Participates in the control of plant modifications.

Hours and Travel

  • This position requires the individual to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with a majority of the time spent in the 5 Channels office or associated hydroelectric generating plants, which include the Mio, Alcona, Loud, 5 Channels, Cooke and Foote hydroelectric dams.
  • Individual needs to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines or assist with equipment related issues and could be given very short notice to do so.
  • This position includes periodic on-call Supervisor responsibility for all of Consumers Energy hydroelectric facilities.
  • This position supports site operations which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime for equipment troubleshooting.
  • The position requires committee work with peer assignments.
  • Individual must have a valid driver’s license.
