  • This Long-Term role is Fully Remote !
The Linux Specialist in High Performance Computing will be responsible for day to day systems and software support activities within Dow's High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment.
  • Heavy Knowledge of Linux operating systems and applications is critical.
  • Proficiency in Open Source programming and Scripting with work BASH, PYTHON, R as well
  • This role also requires user support, documentation, and consulting to ensure effective use of HPC resources.

  • Experience: 5 years and up of Linux experience in corporate environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science not required but desired

HPC Linux Specialist OVERVIEW: Information Research (IR) provides leading edge information technology (I/T) capability and information resources to meet strategic R&D initiatives. IR delivers a combination of Information Technology, R&D experience, and physical science knowledge to develop capabilities and analysis that help deliver R&D growth and innovation commitments. IR overall is focused on making Dow R&D the best at using information technology and informatics for a competitive advantage. Key Responsibilities and Job Duties:
  • Support and operation of Linux-based servers
  • Open source and commercial software integration, support, and optimization
  • Operate and troubleshoot web based HPC applications, services, and workflows
  • Maintain and support commercial modeling and simulation environments
  • User support, documentation, and consulting
  • Infrequent after-hours support.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in system administration
  • Strong knowledge of CentOS 7 and or RedHat 7 operating system
  • Proficient in Bash, pPython and other shell codes
  • Experience building and maintaining open source and commercial software
  • Knowledge of Linux File Systems and Permissions
  • Knowledge shared network storage protocols (NFS, CIFS)
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experienced with High Performance Computing job scheduling
  • Experience with GPU, deep learning, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture
  • Experience with cloud computing software and services
  • Experience with parallel computing (MPI, OpenMP etc)
  • Experience with cloud computing software and services
