ResponsibilitiesState Farm's Property & Casualty (P&C) Actuarial & Underwriting Modeling Department is seeking Data Scientists with experience in utilizing predictive modeling techniques to produce advanced analytic solutions and work in a dynamic and growing unit with emerging technologies.We have a growing and evolving infrastructure of predictive models that support State Farm's insurance pricing and underwriting decisions. We are looking for innovative individuals who are self-starters and like being part of a team that develops and implement creative solutions. Working within the P&C Actuarial & Underwriting Modeling Department, agile product teams have autonomy to drive outcomes that provide meaningful business value directly to our customers. As a data scientist, you will provide analytic solutions to support decision making across the company by:
  • Building statistical Models
  • Consulting with other data experts on best ways to use the data for various analytic solutions
  • Presenting results to stakeholders and leadership
  • Sharing best practices with other Data Scientists
  • Communicating with business partners that require articulation of the work in non-technical terms

QualificationsWe are looking for candidates with:
  • Advanced (MS) degree in statistics, economics, data science, mathematics, quantitative marketing, operations research, management science, industrial engineering, etc.
  • Experience with data cleansing, feature creation, feature selection and value imputation.
  • Broad experience building different types of advanced analytic solutions, including some of the following: time series analysis, cluster analysis, tree based algorithms, generalized linear models, or neural networks.
  • Experience with SQL and with Python, R, or SAS
  • Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word skills
