Ohana Pacific Health in Kaneohe, Hawaii is looking for a Healthcare Billing Specialist to help us with sourcing, locating, and recruiting talented, best qualified, and culture-add candidates who embrace Ohana's mission and values. Under the general supervision of the Business Services Manager. The Patient Account Specialist (PAS) performs billing and collection of SNF Part A claims. PAS is responsible for generating monthly benefits exhaust and no-pay SNF Part A claims, prepares census schedules, review, codes and approves invoices, track denials letters, maintains fee schedules, SNF Part A documents, and supports other OPMC Financial Services staff. Performs job duties in accordance with Ohana Pacific Health (OPH) Core Values and behaviors.

Shift: Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm

Duties include but are not limited:

Develops and maintains current, thorough knowledge of Medicare and other third-party payer rules and regulations applicable to Ohana Pacific Health.

Generate monthly SNF Part A claims in a timely manner.

Enter ancillary charges (verify dates with SNF service dates) with markup for pharmacy, laboratory, medical supplies, x-rays, and equipment rentals.

Transmit (electronic or mail) claims to insurance provider.

Utilize assigned billing system to transmit, edit and monitor claims, ensure that rejected claims are handled, and follows up with outstanding claims.

Identifies, submits, process secondary insurance claims, and generate monthly claims.

Conduct collections efforts by monitoring payment status on SNF Part A claims (primary and secondary insurance) and follow-up on claims processing and payment discrepancies.

Preparation of the monthly "Denial Letter Tracking" form.

Assist with the preparation and/or revisions to the various census schedules .

Review and approve Vendor charges on invoices & claim.

Audits inpatient and outpatient billing as requested by Business Services Manager.

Requirements:

Associate Degree in Accounting or a combination of education and experience in healthcare related field.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounting, healthcare/medical billing, or related field.

Experience with multi-facility billing and collections preferred.

Experience working in a long-term health care environment preferred.

Must have current medical/health screening including 2 step TB clearance (can be done in-house).
