Job Description :We are seeking to hire short term contractors for a 12 week summer program to support conversational AI systems. For this position, we're recruiting candidates who are enrolled in a linguistics graduate degree awarding program. Contractors will engage in Natural Language Processing product development at Facebook.Our ideal candidates will have an interest in understanding language-related work as carried out by a computational assistant team and also be open to learning basic programming, refining their programming skills, and developing language models.We have roles based out of Facebook offices in Menlo Park, CA and Redmond, WA.

Job Details
  • Located in Menlo Park, CA or Redmond, WA
  • 40 hours per week
  • Flexible start dates between May-June, continuing to August-September

Job Description
  • Linguist who will develop data infrastructure for Natural Language Processing systems across products, collaboratively develop complex and consistent linguistic analyses, and create quality language data management schemas.

Skills
  • Strong understanding of linguistic theory across sub-disciplines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across teams of varying disciplines and areas of technical expertise
  • Technical aptitude or strong interest in learning technical skills, such as utilizing a command line interface, basic SQL proficiency, or writing text processing programs in a scripting language (e.g. Python)
  • Experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches, such as basic statistics and experimental design
