- Responsible for the installation, and testing of wireless access points, Power Distribution Units, firewalls, routers, and network switches.
- Install networking cabling, connectors, patch panels, and cabinets/rack systems.
- Punch down CAT5/CAT6 cables to punch block and intercom patch panels.
- Install racks and patch panels in office computer rooms.
- Dress and terminate distribution frames (66 or 110 blocks, patch panels)
- Perform cable and fiber installations in data centers.
- Assist/Support other network-related tasks/requirements as directed by management
- Perform facility surveys for network communications and make recommendations for the layout and location of network components, equipment, cabling, and wiring.
- Maintain records of work completed and in-progress; and update network documentation to record installations, upgrades, configurations.
- Manage assigned projects and deliver on time with periodic status reports to management.
- Provides response to emergency work requests
- Assist with the configuration of network switches, firewalls, and routers.
- Assist the Senior Network Engineers with developing, monitoring, and implementing network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems
- Must be available for on-call to assist with troubleshooting tickets as needed
- Must have knowledge of network design, configuration, installation, testing, and maintenance of local and wide area networks wired and wireless networks.
- Must be familiar with Cisco networking gears.
- Must be able to read blueprints to determine how to best install the components and wirings.
- Troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose/resolve network system problems.
- Experience with Wireshark (or other IP network troubleshooting tools)
- Ability to interpret and apply complex technical manuals and reference materials.
- Ability to assist with developing physical network security and related procedures; and assist with performing network management activities.
- Must know the universal twisted pair (UTP) color code.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of fiber optics cable technology.
- Must possess a minimum of two years of experience in Telecommunications or related technical field.
- Must meet the company minimum driving standards.
- Must be a self-starter with a positive attitude.
- Must have solid attention to detail, labeling, and record-keeping of installations.
- Must possess a BS in Computer Science, Engineering; High School diploma and 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred certifications but not required: A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA
- Office Environment
- Ability to travel up to 50-70% of the time.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
