The HVAC & Restaurant Maintenance / Lead Maintenance Technician position leads Maintenance Services Technicians and outside services to successfully execute repairs to Whataburger facilities, its building components and contents in the assigned area.

Properly maintains all equipment in Whataburger facilities including cooking equipment, HVAC and refrigeration equipment, electronic equipment and building components with a staff that includes Equipment Technicians, All Trades Technicians and Preventative Maintenance Technicians. Provides daily and weekly reporting using current technology to help meet departmental goals, guidelines and procedures. Ensures a safe, efficient and reliable operating system in Whataburger restaurants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs repairs and maintains Restaurant Units assigned. Keeps management advised of status of repairs, special projects and implementation schedules, and zone facilities productivity and efficiencies as contributors to profit. Provides support to the operations of Whataburger’s 24/7 business operations and keeps the facilities up to the Five Points of Focus Standards. Provides ongoing feedback on Technician and contractor performance to Regional Manager based upon ability to meet repair needs. Implements and organizes programs associated with developing and motivating staff to accomplish established objectives. Works with the Regional Manager to ensure all service requests are successfully executed and work orders are properly resolved/closed according to set departmental goals and customer service agreements. Assists the Regional Manager in coordinating projects affecting facilities or equipment throughout the Whataburger restaurants. Manages and reduces costs associated with facility repairs by proactively planning and organizing repair lists to control travel times and distances, proper assignment of service requests to experienced repair technicians and outside services. Strives to control and reduce costs associated with facility equipment repairs by proactively planning and organizing assigned service order requests to regulate travel times and distances, proper assignment of service requests to outside services, and consolidation of like tasks. Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma/GED equivalent or equivalent work experienceCollege hours in technical-related courses preferredBachelor’s degree preferred5+ years field experience in the HVAC and restaurant equipment repair field2+ years’ work experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair preferred3+ years’ experience preferably in restaurant industryKNOWLEDGE & PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Strong refrigeration & HVAC knowledge / skillsWorking knowledge of ADA guidelines and ability to know all job related regulations requiring code enforcementProficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Visio (as applicable) Proficiency in JD Edwards (as applicable) Ability to communicate well with the general publicIntermediate professional knowledge and fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilitiesIntermediate understanding of departmental structure and policies with an elementary understanding of the cross functional structure and policies of Whataburger Restaurants LLCEnvironmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification or CFC Certification requiredState-licensed Mechanical Contractor or Journeyman’s license preferred (required in Oklahoma) WORKING CONDITIONS/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
