What You'll Be Doing- Designing and implementing AWS infrastructure that improves performance, scalability, security, and resiliency
- Leading design on tooling that helps Engineering do their jobs better (ie. load testing tools, import tools for migrating clients, etc.)
- Building containerized web application services that empower developers to work on large data sets
- Develop roadmap for the evolution of improved services
- Mentor / provide advice and guidance across all technical aspects (Engineering, Product, Analytics, Solutions)
- Present architecture and innovative ideas for the purposes of alignment and key decision making
- Possess 7+ years of back-end development experience for large scale web (preferably e-commerce) applications
- Be able to design and communicate external and internal architectural perspectives of well-encapsulated systems (e.g. Service Oriented Architecture, container-based services, microservices)
- Experience building and operating distributed web application systems including Site Reliability Engineering
- Experience converting (even partially) a monolithic application to microservices and is able to plan around typical issues found in microservices
- Strong skills in API and Data Model Design and Implementation including scaling, high availability, and mapping to storage systems
- Ability to design and implement a layered application architecture that can be easily changed to accommodate evolving business requirements
- Experience with Node.js, PHP, and similar frameworks / languages
- Experience working with complex data sets and normalization
