Crew members work 7 days a week for 12-16 hours per day performing strenuous manual labor without a day off for several weeks at a time

United States Seafoods is currently recruiting for a Chief Engineer to perform work on one of our factory trawlers. We fish from January to November with 60 days on/60 days off rotations.

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for overall maintenance of all vessel equipment, including main propulsion, electrical generations, refrigeration plant, and hydraulics.

Operate, monitor and evaluate engine performance.

Maintenance and repair of all fishing and factory equipment, including refrigeration.

Supervises engineering staff in their day-to-day responsibilities.

Detect and identify the cause of machinery malfunctions and correct faults.

Plans and coordinates use of manpower, material and equipment to ensure efficient maintenance of shipboard equipment.

Compensation is a Crewshare (which is a percentage of the value of the catch).

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 3 years of experience working onboard fishing vessels

USCG Chief Engineer of Uninspected Fishing Vessel or greater or DDE

Must be available for the full contract period (Approx. up to 90 days)
