Job Description

Data and Audience Strategy

  • Consult with senior internal and client leads to define and answer their most important business questions, advising on how to best leverage a strategic audience approach to drive business results
  • Collaborate with Strategy and Analytics teams to incorporate their learnings (ex. macro trends, insights from bid stream data) into an audience opportunity analysis
  • Work with a variety of audience insights tools (including those proprietary to dentsu) to identify new audiences which will deliver on business needs
  • Perform or consult on statistical analysis; such as decision trees, factor analysis, DFA, and cluster analysis to determine the best way to create audiences in the M1 data platform (if not already proficient at this, a passion/interest in learning these techniques in necessary, as it can be a part of the role)
  • Gather and synthesize a wide variety of information, including business intelligence, industry trends and consumer data, to proactively identify business opportunities (ex. Desktop, eMarketer and Mintel research)
  • Evaluate panel and big data sources, understanding the key differences in methodology and data availability, and advise teams on the best source to use for each project (if not already proficient at this, a passion/interest in learning this in necessary

Data Analysis and Consumer Insight Storytelling

  • Tell a holistic human understanding story incorporating a variety of sources and inputs available and elevating the data beyond the numbers to uncover “why” people do what they do, in a way that is actionable for media
  • Communicate data and insights in a compelling way, creating clear and inspiring presentations of approach, findings and recommendations that directly inform the overarching strategy
  • Perform data analysis to understand demographics, motivation, and behaviors of audiences, as well as critical similarities and differences between audiences
  • Leverage dentsu’s proprietary platform (M1) as well as additional industry sources, such as MRI, Simmons, custom primary surveys (e.g. Google Surveys), qualitative research, search trends and publisher partner data

Team Management

  • Mentor peer and more junior insights team members, helping to grow their skillsets and careers.

Client and Internal Stakeholder management

  • Continuously identify new ways to utilize data to fuel media and messaging decisions, helping planning, content, and activation teams make more data-led recommendations
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, facilitating synergy between the account management, planning, and activation functions that manage day-to-day client business
  • Collaborate throughout the data and audience strategy process including working with data partners to receive further data for insights, consulting with data scientists on best approaches, and sourcing additional data inputs
  • Build trusting, collaborative relationships with clients and be able to challenge, persuade and present POV convincingly

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in media/account planning, consumer research, marketing, or programmatic/big data
  • Experience with data analysis platforms: cross-tab programs (eg: Telmar, IMS), consumer surveys (eg: MRI, Simmons), big data technology (eg: DMPs, DSPs). Knowledge of SPSS and/or statistical techniques is a plus (eg. factor/cluster, CHAID, correspondence mapping)
  • Data fluency—strong experience with data analysis, interpretation, presentation, and delivery
  • Strong presentation skills and comfort level. Previous agency pitch experience is a plus.
  • Outstanding time and project management skills, ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously and ability to work independently while keeping manager/team informed of projects, workload and business opportunities
  • Detail - oriented and able to manage complex processes seamlessly with minimal errors
  • Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment; can adapt plans due to changes in client objectives while minimizing impact on project momentum
  • Highly proactive, curious, and willing to challenge the status quo. Strong ability to identify opportunities to solve business problems with data, audiences and insights
  • Nice to have: previous experience in or passion for technology or health industries
