DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW We deliver data and technology services and, through collaboration with partners, transform the role of Information Technology to advance the UC mission. The Office of the President is located in Oakland, CA. However, U.S. based applicants from outside the Bay Area who wish to work remotely will be considered.

POSITION SUMMARY Administer, manage and improve on-prem and cloud-based email applications and/or services such as Office 365 and AWS Simple Email Service (SES). Collaborate with team members to provide tier 2 and 3 support for additional infrastructure applications such as Box, Citrix, AWS AppStream, GoAnywhere, Control-M. Recognize security threats and actively implement prevention or mitigation controls. As a member of a security first organization, must monitor critical vendor communication and respond to security incidents as they arise, which may include weekends, holidays and non-working hours. Uses advanced IT professional concepts and campus objectives to resolve highly complex issues as related to system and application administration. Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Collaborates, defines, sets, implements and enforces standards and policies. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Uses technical skills related to Unix, Windows and some IBM mainframe, file transfer and workload automation software, source-code control-management tools and knowledge of UC multi-campus business systems to develop and document processes and protocols, troubleshoot complex problems and monitor computer systems business work flows to successful completion. Evaluates new technologies including performing moderate to complex cost / benefit analysis.

Responsibilities 30% Applies advanced systems/infrastructure concepts to perform highly complex technical functions. Proposes and implements highly complex system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the supported systems. Analyzes, acquires, installs, and supports applications, systems, databases and utilities required for supported systems. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Implement security patches and updates as necessary and in a timely fashion. 55% Provides email administration for Office 365 and AWS Simple Email Service (SES). Installs, customizes, tests and implements the supported applications, servers, databases, and utility programs based on design documents. Provides tier 2 and 3 technical support and analysis for technical solutions. Addresses high complexity and high-risk requests in a timely and professional manner using discretion as needed. 10% Attend training sessions, classes and demonstrations when offered. Supplement existing knowledge and skills through technical journals, manuals and other resources. Support other prioritized organization initiatives. Other duties as assigned. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule as required. 5% Work with team to define options and recommendations for resiliency and availability of supported systems. Deploy and maintain disaster recovery (DR) configuration. Assist in development and execution of DR test plans. Work with management to create and maintain strategic plan and roadmap for supported systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Highly developed knowledge and experience with Windows and Unix file organization and commands.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement of processes and services.
  • Experience with file transfer systems and workload automation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of email administration for Office 365 or similar tools in a hybrid environment, for system maintenance, upgrades and module implementation, necessary to design, set-up, operate and correct malfunctions.
  • Experience leading a team of IT professionals.
  • Experience supporting AWS Simple Email Service (SES), Box, Citrix, AWS AppStream, GoAnywhere, Control-M

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and equivalent working experience / training.
  • Minimum of 7 years of IT Operations experience and/or system administration experience

License/Certifications
  • ITIL Foundation (Preferred)
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (Preferred)

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: $121,200 - $142,000 annually commensurate with skills and experience.
