job summary:Randstad is looking to hire a organized and detail orientated Technical Writer. The perfect candidate has the ability to plan and create technical content for clinical software products. This is currently set at a 9 month contract with high potential to extend or convert. For more details, see the description below. location: New York, New Yorkjob type: Contractsalary: $40 - 47 per hourwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: High School responsibilities:Mission: The Technical Writer level III will be responsible for user documentation that accompanies the assigned software product or products. The Technical writer III will:
- Apply Technical Communication fundamentals to assigned documentation projects.
- Participate as a member of an Agile product team for assigned product or products
- Create high-quality product documentation based on our client's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process
- Research product and terminology and apply domain knowledge to documentation
- Plan and create technical content using brand standards and processes with minimal supervision
- Translate complex technical content into clear and concise articles
- Learn to identify and build accurate user workflows with minimal supervision
- Use content authoring, delivery and measurement tools - Confluence, Jira, Google Analytics for content creation
- Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) about the assigned product(s)
- Serve as a peer editor to others' content
- Develop negotiation and problem solving skills to reach project decisions in a timely manner
- Participate in UX meetings regarding user messaging, screen design and Context Sensitive help (CSH) implementation
- Collaborate with translation team on deliverables
- Contribute to TCS presence through participation and presentation within TCS as well as via blogs on MedEx
- Experience: 4-7 years writing experience, preferably with software or online systems
- Education: Bachelor degree in English, Technical Communication, Engineering or scientific discipline is preferred
- Communication skills:
- Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills (both spoken and written)
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise user content
- Tools & Competencies
- Familiarity with tools such as: Confluence, Jira, Google Analytics
- Demonstrate ability to learn new tools and processes quickly
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to adapt to rapid changes
- Demonstrate good listening skills
- Ability to read basic code a plus
- Experience working in an Agile environment preferred
