Accounting InternDescriptionThe State Accounting Office (SAO)provides accounting and financial reporting expertise for the State and isresponsible for statewide financial reporting, oversight and management of theState’s Peoplesoft Financial and Human Capital Management system, accountingpolicy business process improvement recommendations, and management of the SAOShared Services Center.The Statewide Accounting &Reporting (SWAR) Division is responsible for statewide financial reportingincluding the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, Budgetary ComplianceReport, Single Audit Report, accounting policy, accounting governance, andother special projects as assigned by agency leadership. SWAR is a dynamic andhighly successful team dedicated to the continuous improvement of financial reportingand providing value to the stakeholders of Georgia. SWAR is seeking anAccounting intern to become part of the team.Internship Period: 8/1/2020 through12/15/2020Essential Dutiesand Responsibilities :Our organization is seeking anIntern to assist with the preparation of financial statements and footnotes, aswell as the compilation of information for the annual reporting requirements ofthe state.Intern duties will include:

Compile and track forms and otheradditional information received from state agencies

Perform preliminary review of yearend forms received from agencies

Monitor the SWAR mailbox

Assist with files formatting andconversion (from MS Word to PDF).

Data entry or load in Hyperion whenrequested

Participate in special projects asidentified and assigned by supervisor

InternshipRequirements, Skills and Abilities:

Self-starter with organizationalskills

Ability to use judgment to determinethe accuracy of financial information

Ability to manage various tasks andprojects

Ability to use computers in the areaof accounting spreadsheet applications

Ability to establish and maintaineffective working relationships with others

Good analytical and problem-solvingabilities

Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skill.

Education/Training/Experience:Minimum Training & Experience:

Working towards a degree inaccounting

Experience using Microsoft Excel,Word and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge in governmental accounting

Advanced experience in MicrosoftExcel, such as pivot tables and v-lookups

Able to work 20-25 hrs. a week
