Description Job Description: We are seeking a mid-level Electrical/Computer Engineer to integrate a DoD/Air Force (AF) satellite computer and work with the customer team to build a space experiment using the computer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wishes to have a hands-on role in designing and developing a satellite for a government space experiment. The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) currently has an opening for an Electrical/Computer Engineer to work at a customer site on Kirtland Air Force Base under our Albuquerque, NM office. Our Leidos team has a contract to support the development of modeling and simulation techniques to analyze the effectiveness of various electronics for payload and bus applications in spacecraft. For this effort, we are seeking a full-time engineer to recommend and integrate multiple commercial processing boards with a custom, space-hardened, controlling board and to run simulations and tests to confirm expected performance and investigate event impacts. Processing system would eventually be incorporated in a flight experiment and candidate would work system integration, payload power solutions, and developing flight hardware and software.Primary Responsibilities • Review documentation for third-party controller board and embedded real-time operating system (RTOS); develop expertise interfacing with and operating the board.• Support customer selection of representative daughter boards (graphics processing unit [GPU], multiprocessor system-on-chip, single board computer, FPGA, AI accelerator).• Interface selected daughter boards with controller board; develop interfacing software as needed.• Prepare simulations and develop suitable benchmarking to support testing the full processor system performance.• Review and analyze space experiment requirements, participate in defining, deriving, and allocating hardware and software requirements.• Translate conceptual designs into detailed design specifications, electrical schematics, complete bills of materials (BOMs) and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design layouts.• Develop drawings, documentation, and publications as needed.• Provide technical support for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, system test, cost estimates, engineering specifications, and various drawings.• Test and integrate hardware and software/firmware within the space experiment.• Troubleshoot, improve, and optimize designs from prototypes to matured products.Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of experience with digital design and/or programming of FPGAs • Previous or existing Secret DoD/DoE clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.• Knowledge of C/C and MATLAB software languages.• Knowledge of Linux operating system (OS) and RTOSs.• Knowledge of digital logic design using VHDL with FPGA's and/or Microcontrollers and associated tools (such as Xilinx Vivado or Altera equivalent).• Knowledge of VHDL simulation - using part-vendor tools or third party (Xilinx simulator, Active HDL, ModelSim etc.).• Basic knowledge of various test equipment - oscilloscope, voltmeter, logic analyzer.Preferred Qualifications • Understanding of signal processing, image processing, machine learning, data compression, guidance/navigation, and autonomy algorithms.• Knowledge of accessing and interfacing with various aerospace power systems.• Experience with other programming languages.LInC Pay Range:
