ensure activities and regulatory tasks occur on a timely basis and meet

appropriate/required guidelines; policies and procedures. Maintains and

optimizes the automated dispensing systems and temperature monitoring system.

When requested, assists the pharmacist in the preparation of IV admixtures,

filling medication requests, and maintaining pharmacy inventory. Performs

duties in accordance with that of organization’s policies and procedures, and

regulatory guidelines.Responsible for organizing work load as assigned.

Displays professional, safe conduct in all interactions. Maintains positive

working relationships with staff, other departments, physicians and peers.

Mayserve in leadership and advisory role as assigned for the pharmacy techniciangroup in areas of work processes and practices, training, schedules,performance standards, continuing education, competency validation,representation at appropriate meetings, and other areas as assigned.

Coordinatethe use of the automated drug distribution system for pharmacy such as databasemanagement, resetting of par and reorder levels, cabinet optimization,coordinating maintenance, service support liaison and other.

Coordinatethe use of the automated dispensing system and temperature monitoring system toassure proper system operation, alarm monitoring and reporting and other.

Assistthe pharmacist in filling medication orders, prescriptions, and pharmacy stock.

Accuratelyprepare medications for the pharmacist to check, when appropriate, includingappropriate auxiliary labels, in a timely manner.

Assurethat a pharmacist’s final check and signature documentation of all products hasoccurred when appropriate prior to their delivery.

Attendpromptly to the directives of the pharmacist and supervisory personnel.

Accuratelyprepare sterile products in a timely manner, adhering to required aseptictechnique at all times.

Accurately select theappropriate drug product(s) required for the preparation of sterile productsand assure that all necessary components are available for final check by thepharmacist.

Promotes and supports positiveand professional customer service, while interacting with clients, guests andteam members.

Works collaboratively with allmembers of the interdisciplinary team, other departments and disciplines toassure patients and customer’s needs are met in a timely manner.

Encourages the activeparticipation of the patient and/or family in goal setting and patient/familytraining/education.

Provides positive andconstructive feedback to enhance departmental operations.

Completes all necessarydocumentation as outlined by departmental policy and documentation review. Thisincludes, but is not limited to, patient care charting, charge entry,completing peer chart and peer reviews, and documenting on daily schedule.

Utilizes available informationmanagement systems to support departmental and organizational goals. Thisincludes utilization of e-mail, information announcements, policies, annualmandatories, charge entry, and accessing patient care related information.

Shallbe responsible for purchasing activities, medication and compliance audits orpharmacy analytics and informatics (i.e. running reports, managing electronichealth record programs or managing automated dispensing cabinet functionality)as assigned.

Mayperform clinical application file build and configuration.

Analyzesidentified system and technical problems and recommends solutions.

Provide technical support inobtaining, verifying for accuracy, and recording initial medication historiesfrom patients and/or their designated family/caregivers upon presentation tothe Emergency Room and patient care areas. Includes:

a. Conducting patient and/or family interviews focused on obtainingcurrent medication regimens including prescription and over-the-counter(non-prescription) medications, as well as vitamin and herbal supplements fordosing, frequency and indications.b. Able to clarify as many uncertainties as possible utilizingpatient and family caregiver information, ambulatory pharmacy records, clinicrecords, long-term care facility records, and information from previoushospital encounters.c. Accurately listing the medication in the electronic medical recordfor review by a pharmacist.d. Is responsible for relaying any issues thatcannot be addressed by the technician to the pharmacist and/or physician.

Promotes department-based goals andcontributes to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor andresource to less experienced staff.

Establishes/maintains effective and respectful communication in allcollaborative relationships.

Rotates weekend/call responsibilities in a professional andaccountable fashion if applicable.

Performs duties in accordance with that of hospital policies andprocedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.

Accountable for maintaining required certifications.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: EducationLevel Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) &Direct Pharmacy Technician work experience (which met eligibility

requirements for state licensure and/or certificationthrough nationally recognized

accredited agency.) ORCompletion of a nationally approved, accredited formal Pharmacy

Technician training programLicensure/Certification Required: Registered Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) with the Texas State Board of

Pharmacy (TSBP) &BLS certification - through an approved AHA program &Completion of an ACPE approved 40 hour sterile products course(must be completed within 60 days of date of hire &/or transfer

into position)AdditionalRequirement for Critical Access Hospitals only: Licensed in the State of

Texas as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)Preferred Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPT) through the Pharmacy Technician

Certification Board (PTCB) Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities Effective
