Job Summary: The Database Administrator is responsible for the administration of production, test and development databases in the organization. This includes backups, performance, integrity, and security of all existing enterprise SQL databases as well as installing and configuring new SQL services and migrations.Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure, T-SQL code, functional capabilities, security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.Verifies data integrity and maintains data standards.Defines and implements security access controls to data.Ensures maximum system uptime and performance.Installs and configures new SQL Server instances.Supports and maintains SQL production, development, and testing databases.Develops, manages, and tests back-up recovery plans to ensure business recovery time objectives (RTO) can be met.Ensure back-up methods meet business recovery point objectives (RPO).Troubleshoots SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after hours and weekends for organization critical databases.Ensures backups are securely stored offsite, both in transit and at rest.Configures/Maintains monitoring solutions to facilitate; Regular performance testing and tuning; SQL Instance/Database configuration monitoring; Corruption monitoring/alerting; Monitoring of login activity for suspicious behavior; Analyzing usage patterns and downtime; and Conduct capacity planning.Creates and optimizes physical tables, indexes, and queries.Manages storage space and memory.Collaborates with technical team to repair and recover from database or hardware failures.Creates and maintains database documentation.Assists with T-SQL reporting from enterprise databases.Makes licensing recommendations based on organization’s SQL estate.Researches and recommends innovative and automated approaches for database administration tasks.Assists with high availability and disaster recovery planning and implementation.Performs on call duty as required.Accepts additional responsibilities as assigned.Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.

Professional Requirements:Adheres to dress code.Completes annual educational requirements.Maintains regulatory requirements.Wears identification while on duty.Maintains confidentiality at all times.Attends department staff meetings as required within the department.Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time.Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.Coordinates efforts in meeting regulatory compliance, federal, state and local regulations and standardsCommunicates and complies with the Benefis Health System Mission, Vision and Values as well as the focus statement of the department.Complies with Benefis Health System Organization Policies and Procedures.Complies with Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines.Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, and Information Technology3 years’ experience administering databases in a SAN environmentSpecific technical skills consistent with Benefis technical architecture preferred, including SQL and Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
