The full-time Controller position is situated in the City of Commerce, California area. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Requirements
CPA required
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
General ledger experience
Strong attention to detail
Progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years as a Controller for a $100mm revenue firm
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
