Position Title Software Dev Engineer II Location Seattle, WA Duration 6+ Months Job Description: Position OverviewExpedia is looking for a proactive engineer who has a passion and proven experience in building web applications. This role will involve building new features of existing web applications, as well as making modifications to shared libraries distributed across the Expedia Group portfolio.In this role, you will be a leader, contributor and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on our advertising technology stack. As a ‘Software Development Engineer II’ you will participate in all aspects of feature development like grooming new product increments, user-story development, automation test implementation and peer review of team contributions before release.Responsibilities Modify existing web pages to integrate new or adjust existing advertising products Create elegant & reusable UX components that span devices using responsive web design Engineer scalable, fault tolerant software components for serving ads across all Expedia Inc. pages Implement custom advertising solutions on web pages owned by other teams within the company Use and contribute to reusable libraries for placing and loading advertising products, and make suggestions for improvementsQualification and Desired Skills 2+ years experience with JavaScript development, with a deep understanding of the language 3+ years overall development experience Java development experience Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS, and the standards for each, including working with all major modern browsers Structured approach to development (measuring, monitoring, and testing) and a deep understanding of object oriented design Ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies Dedication to writing and maintaining high quality code Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience with modern web application frameworks, such as Express.js Experience working with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js Experience investigating and optimizing web performance Experience with web analytics tools or processes Experience with online advertising is a plus Top desired 3 skill sets Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS, and the standards for each, including working with all major modern browsers Experience with modern web application frameworks, such as Express.js Experience working with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.jsPrograms/Tools that will be used on the assignment (if any) Git, Jenkins, MacOS, VS Code or IntelliJPrevious experience required/preferred 2+ years experience with JavaScript development, with a deep understanding of the language 3+ years overall development experienceExamples of work you will like to see in addition to the resume.
