Description:THE ROLEThe Executive Director, Operations San Pedro provides operational leadership to departments (e.g., Food & Nutritional Services, Imaging Services, Radiology, Pathology, Laboratory, Rehab (PT/OT/Speech), Anesthesia, Emergency Physicians, Cancer Services, Home Health, Breast Health Center, and Environmental Services.) under the direction of the Administrator. Ensures delivery of high quality and cost effective health care consistent with Providence Health System's core values, goals, and objectives.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develops department policies/procedures, improving organization performance. Program, patient/customer safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Oversees a wide variety of inpatient/outpatient, therapeutic, diagnostic, clinical, and support services.

Maintains positive relationships with the Medical Staff, monitors employee morale, and ensures union contract compliance.

Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes Recommendations for personnel actions.

Coordinates all activities related to the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Implements quality improvement activities, which promote employee/physician involvement in decision-making.

Selects, develops, and mentors leaders and department managers.

Oversees departments’ budgets and monitors variance against budget.

Makes recommendations to improve day-to-day medical center operations.

Provides a safe, secure, and aesthetically pleasing physical plant in compliance with National, state, and local requirements.

Functions as Chief Operating Officer in the absence of the Medical Center Administrator.

Accountable for all Six Sigma operational compliance.

Functions as a member of Leadership and other committees as required. Represents Administration at all Medical Staff meetings.

Functions as liaison with outside organizations.

Provides leadership for approved capital projects and manages major construction projects as directed.

Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, conferences, and Professional affiliations.

Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONSRequired education/experience for this position include:

Master's Degree or Ph.D.

5 years of Hospital management experience, preferably in a large hospital.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent program development, management, and leadership skills.

In-depth knowledge of trends, legislation, and regulations affecting healthcare and hospitals.

Well-developed ability to work harmoniously with executive colleagues in a team-oriented management environment.
