Job Description

  • Ensure adherence to the principles, tools, and processes related to Research & Development IT portfolio governance, in accordance with Enterprise IT PMO standards
  • Facilitate the project request intake and ideation process, as well as the Business Case review process.
  • Drive monthly financial reviews with relevant department and team members to ensure accurate financial tracking. This includes appropriate budget forecasting; month-end reporting of actuals, accruals and variance analysis; reconciliations with Finance.
  • Perform financial analyses; gather and report metrics related to the state of Projects, Programs and the Research & Development IT Portfolio. Generate relevant weekly, monthly and intermittent reports. Develop dashboards and other BI tools as necessary.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of periodic communications and training.
  • Represent Research and Development IT in Enterprise PMO discussions and process decisions.
  • Play a key role in the R&D IT Annual Operating Planning inputs including: financial data updates & reviews with IT Functional Leads; this includes appropriate budget forecasting; variance analysis against strategic plan; reconciliations with Finance.
  • Monitor the timelines, budgets and resource scheduling needed to deliver new or enhanced systems and capabilities.
  • Monitor, challenge and ensure predictable delivery of projects and/or programs – driving accountability of work stream owners and enabling escalation of risks and issues that require assistance or attention.
  • Help drive Ensure timely and accurate completion and maintenance of SDLC deliverables throughout the project/program lifecycle, and adherence to PMO standards.
  • Ensure resources, either internal or external, are secured to meet projects’ needs.
  • Ensure projects are delivered at a high level of quality according to committed scope, approved budget and targeted dates.
  • Proactively raise execution concerns to project teams and leadership.
  • When required, lead moderate to complex projects and/or programs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience working as an IT professional managing projects and/or programs in the Pharma-Biotech industry. Program leadership with experience in Pharma-Research and/or Pharma-Development IT projects will be preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience implementing moderate to complex cross-functional projects solutions within established software development life cycle methodologies.
  • Experience with financial management including accruals, reconciliation, forecasting and reporting. Experience with annual planning and budgeting a plus.
  • Experience working in a validated environment and demonstrated success with compliant delivery.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Process-oriented with very strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Above-average proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office tools; proficiency with business analytics tools, such as Spotfire, PowerBI or Tableau a plus. Experience with a budget forecasting tool, such as Hyperion, preferred.
