SummaryThis Facilities Operations Specialist position serves as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Facilities Maintenance in the Facilities Maintenance Department of the Facilities Management Division (AFM-MT). The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Deputy Chief of Facilities Maintenance in the maintenance of all the Gallery’s architectural, civil, and structural systems including all related maintenance and repair projects.ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent assists the Building Maintenance Manager with issues involving the development and execution of building maintenance operations including major and minor repair, restoration and alteration programs, with a heavy focus on civil and structural engineering aspects of the Gallery's facilities.Addresses all issues involving the development and execution of building maintenance operations including major and minor repair, restoration and alteration programs.Oversight is provided through facility inspections and reviews of maintenance operations to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and delegation of authority guidelines. Position requires a high level of managerial and technical skill and ability to direct complex maintenance operations.The incumbent has intermediate knowledge and on-the-job experience in the construction industry.Management of monetary resources to ensure that operational requirements are met.The incumbent should have a knowledge and understanding of basic financial management.Assisting in the direction, through subordinate supervisors, a staff of technical and support employees consisting of masons, woodworkers, carpenters, painters and plasterers.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentYour resume serves as the basis for qualification determinations and must highlight your most relevant and significant work experience and education (if applicable) as it relates to this job opportunity. For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, managing a major component of a commercial construction or facility maintenance program.Candidates must reflect in their submitted USAJOBS résumés the possession of this specialized experience. Demonstrated ability to operate and extremely high quality campus building and grounds maintenance and repair program.2. Advanced knowledge of current approaches and methods in commercial construction, to include aspects of carpentry, plastering, painting, and masonry.3. Skill in budget planning, programming and execution in an operating environment involving several million dollars of annual funding.4. Skill in managing human capital to include scheduling, timekeeping, leave, and awards.Other Relevant Eligibility Criteria:Must be able to use ladders, scaffolds and platforms. Must be able to work in cramped and isolated locations. Must be able to climb, stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend and stoop.
