Quarantine Shelter 3rd shift Support Staff – Temp. at 25.55 per Hour (PORTLAND)

All hands-on deck! A temporary emergency 24-hour shelter (based out of a local hotel) has been established as a cross-collaborative effort between the State of Maine and community providers to provide short-term housing to individuals who are experiencing homelessness and have tested positive for COVID, WE NEED YOU! Functioning as part of a team, you will be building relationships and trust with guests, monitoring and assessing

safety, and performing general housekeeping tasks under the direction of the shelter leadership. The regular pay for this opportunity is $15.70/hr, however during this critical time, Preble Street is paying time and a half for all hours worked in shelter, food, and coverage programming. Overnight shifts are awake shifts with an additional $2 differential. Sunday-Wednesday, 11:30pm-9:30am

Thursday-Saturday, 11:30pm-9:30am

Job Requirements

3-5 years of case management or relevant experience.

Bachelor’s degree in social work, social welfare, or a related field.

Knowledge of relevant community resources.

Qualified candidates for this position will be skilled in crisis intervention, with the ability to establish

boundaries and set limits in challenging situations.

Candidates must also have a thorough understanding of traumatic reactions, mental illness, substance

use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.

Strong communication skills and experience working within a team-centered environment is a must.

Experience working with immigrants or refugees or similar populations highly preferred.
