Must be able to work a variety of hours including nights and weekends. Must be able to perform heavy lifting.DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:Baker position tasks that vary depending upon the shift. The shift will determine the tasks performed and the specific items to be baked. A bakery production spreadsheet is provided by the Team Lead. The Baker will begin their shift by obtaining the necessary ingredients for the designated items to be baked. The ingredients are both stacked against the side wall of the bakery as well as in the refrigerator unit. Once all items are obtained, they are prepared accordingly. The items are then properly mixed using the large mixers. They are taken from the mixers and placed on to the metal baking sheets. The sheets are then placed into the ovens. The baker will also help customers and assist other bakery staff.DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Prepares dough and bakes bread, rolls, biscuits, muffins, and similar items. Prepares and bakes cakes, cookies, pies, and other desserts. Operates computerized baking ovens, steamer oven, various sizes of mixers by utilizing machine control panels Maintains refrigerated product. Operates the label machine and the scales. Cleans bakery, baking equipment, and machinery. Maintains maximum standards of sanitation and safety including temperature controls, pull dates, and compliance with health codes. Follows department procedures and standards for quality and consistency of the finished products. Assists in training and directing the work of food service workers, apprentices, clerks, and other employees assigned to the bakery area. Adheres to all company and bakery operations, standards, policies, and procedures. Customer service as needed Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/LICENSE REQUIRED:Experience1-3 years as a fully skilled BakerGrocery Baker experience is a plus.Preferred Field of Expertise Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards for large scale bakery operation Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others. Knowledge of basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of whole and fractional numbers count, and decimal systems. Ability to convert standard unit recipes to desired quantity of product. Ability to maintain simple records of quantities of ingredients used and volume of production. Ability to provide on the job training in food preparation to lower level employees.
