Boulder Bike Sharing, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit owner and operator of the Boulder B-cycle bike-sharing system, is seeking a part-time field technician and system sanitizer to participate in the daily operation of Boulder’s nonprofit bike-sharing system. The position consists of two parts:

1. Relocating B-cycles between stations and performing minor station maintenance in a 10’ box truck, and

2. Cleaning and disinfecting bikes and stations, traveling by electric bike or small electric moped

Applicants for this position should have a valid driver’s license and good driving record, feel comfortable driving both vehicle types described above, be willing to work outdoors in all kinds of weather lifting and moving bicycles and station components, and support the organization’s mission to operate a sustainable bike-sharing system.

Responsibilities

-Relocate B-cycles between stations using an automatic transmission 10’ box truck

-Monitor station performance using Boulder B-cycle’s computers and mobile devices

-Restart station computers and perform light technical work as needed

-Handle, install, and charge Lithium-ion batteries

-Assist in station disassembly and assembly

-Clean stations and bikes and perform touch-up painting

Qualifications

-In order to execute the responsibilities of the Part-Time Fleet Technician, applicants should:

-Have a working knowledge of Boulder’s layout, streets, and geography and the skill to drive and park a small box truck in traffic in a safe and prudent manner

-Be comfortable working alone to meet the needs of the system and the Boulder B-cycle team

-Be able to analyze system needs based on real-time web-based apps, anticipate short-term needs of the system, and distribute bikes accordingly

-Be familiar with or quickly able to learn the Google suite of products (specifically Gmail, Hangouts, Calendar, and Drive)

-Be willing to work outdoors in inclement (rain, wind, snow) weather

-Be able to work while standing for extended periods

-Be able to repeatedly lift bicycles weighing 50 pounds to a height of no less than 36”

Compensation

This position is part-time (approximately 30 hours per week) with perks and benefits available after a probationary period. Starting pay is $15.00/hour.
