This role is primarily responsible for managing Kaiser Permanente Southern California's reputation via social channels and digital platforms to grow and retain membership. The manager of social media will also be leading or providing strategic and tactical support for high-value projects and initiatives in collaboration with the national social/media teams and organization-wide public relations/communications and marketing teams. Examples of projects and tactics range from managing/updating the social media brand handles, advocacy tools/platforms, and creating social media content and/or campaigns. Projects will need to have defined metrics and campaigns will be measured against those metrics-as analytics will also be used to influence future projects. As a manager, this candidate may oversee media or communications staff to ensure consistent organizational messaging that aligns with the organization's strategic priorities.This role will report to the director of brand reputation as part of the larger regional Integrated Brand Communications team. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing, social media, and analytics skills, and also a passion for how we improve care, quality, service at Kaiser Permanente through listening to, and acting upon, the voice of the consumer as expressed through social media interactions.Essential Responsibilities:

The manager of social media will assist or oversee any of the following areas:

The development and execution of a region-wide social media/media communication plan that that supports the strategic plan and promotes and protects Kaiser Permanente's brand and reputation.

Responsible for developing content, proactively posting content, and responding to/or coordinating responses to external postings.

Provide engagement and positive storytelling to our vast audiences via social and traditional media channels to grow and retain membership.

Provide social media expertise to support local, regional, and national crisis management teams.

Responsible for communicating organizational messages to key audiences.

Provide strategic and tactical support for high-value projects and initiatives in collaboration with the national social/media teams and organization-wide public relations/communications teams.

Provide strategic thinking and leadership skills to design and measure social media activities and bring technical/content expertise to continually be in the forefront of the digital space. Development of metrics and analytics will be required to support social campaigns and to measure the success of projects and influence future campaigns.

Stays abreast of current trends and emerging technology, especially those which are being developed and rolled out by the national social media team.

Knowledge and experience in responding to inquiries related to media relations/issues management.

Prioritizes and manages multiple clients, projects and deadlines, allocating resources and talent as needed.

Provides staff management, including hiring, development, motivation, performance evaluation and coaching of a multidisciplinary staff and consultants as needed.

Ensures that all content and design represent the national graphic standards, brand, and branding strategies.

Basic Qualifications:Experience

Minimum of five (5) years experience in PR, communications, or marketing communications.

Minimum of three (3) years experience leading teams and managing high priority projects with all levels of leadership.

Education

Bachelor's degree.

License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:

Requires significant demonstrated experience in social media, digital media tracking/analytics platforms, and media relations.

Experience managing direct reports and managing project teams.

Experience with media relations, issues management, and service recovery.

Experience working with social media tracking platforms.

Strong writing skills and ability to create content using various social media tools

Requires ability to collaborate with others and effectively communicate input to appropriate parties.

Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills in communications project management.

Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate persuasively and effectively to a wide range of internal and external customers and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree preferred.
