We are looking for a calm, creative and sweet person to teach our 10 year old autistic son at home in Haiku. He is entering into the 5th grade. He is very intelligent and thrives in a supportive environment. We have a small detached cottage for the home school classroom set a big beautiful yard full of fruit trees and lots of space to play, learn and explore! This will be a rewarding experience for the right gentle and patient person.
A current state teaching credential, or a credential in progress, is required for this position
The ideal qualities for this teaching role are: loads of creativity, a fun-loving attitude, the ability to improvise and problem-solve, flexible, adaptable, with a sweet soft demeanor and a reliably calm and balanced presence.
The teacher will need to be available to hold school Monday-Friday mornings at 9am, and the amount of hours per week will build up incrementally over time. This position will be paid as a private contractor through the DOE. Hours will start at 10hrs per week and build up slowly.
