Principal Software Engineer - Java - Pleasanton Hub

Work Anywhere. Our engineering teams are organized around hubs for community and collaboration. Work anywhere means you can work at home or the office on any given day, but should live within commute distance to one of our hubs : Pleasanton, Columbus, Boston, NYC, Raleigh or Toronto.

We are looking for Principal Software Engineers that are self-starters, love solving technical challenges, and have prior experience working on a variety of engineering projects in an energizing environment.

You should have expertise in Java applications and extensive experience working with the latest open source technologies.

In this role, you will be focused on building software that can scale and continue to evolve with new features and capabilities over time.This is a remote position.

What You'll Do

Collaborate with Product Management and Development team members on technical design and problem solving to come up with compelling solutions to problems.

Use a pragmatic Test Driven Development approach to developing high-quality software that doesn't need to be assured by a QA team before it's deployed to production.

Own all aspects of implementation for features from design to development, deployment to production, and support and maintenance.

Mentor junior engineers

Requirements

8+ years of software development experience

Extensive experience with Solr and Lucene

Extensive experience developing enterprise software in Java

Hands-on development experience with current open source tools and technologies (Java, Spring, MySQL, Hibernate, Maven, Git, Jenkins, JUnit, Mockito, Log4J, AspectJ, Tomcat, JMS, Linux)

Deep expertise in object-oriented design and implementation

Drive and flexibility to roll up your sleeves and work hard (and have fun) in a fast-moving startup environment
