Senior Laboratory Assistant

The Laboratory Assistant II is responsible for the collections and processing of blood specimens, providing assessment and care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric in-patients, emergency room patients, and patients from other hospital services as needed.

He / she will assist as necessary with outpatient specimen collection and processing. The innoculation of microbiology specimens onto primary media and the processing of specimens for referral testing are also responsibilities of the position.

He / she is proficient in required competencies.

Skills :

Good verbal communication skills for frequent contact with patients, nurses, doctors, and co-workers.

The ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently and effectively for the operation of his / her workload.

Good phlebotomy skills are required for patients of all age groups.

Ability to work with others in a flexible and cooperative manner.

Position Requirements :

Education : High School degree or GED

Experience :

License / Certification : Current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician license. Healthcare provider level BLS Certification.

Preferred Position Qualifications :

Experience : One-year laboratory phlebotomy experience
