Nurse Practitioner (NP)

The selected Nurse Practitioner will function as a primary care provider for acute care illness and injury of college age students primarily in the appointment clinic with occasional rotation in the urgent care clinic, with a focus on working at a comfortable pace with adequate time for health care and education.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner to become a part of our team at James Madison University (JMU)! You will focus on providing high quality patient care as part of a healthcare team.

Responsibilities :

Ability to provide education to students at the time of appointments and occasionally as a guest speaker in health science classes or other outreach venues on campus.

Excellent communication skills with clients, colleagues and other JMU faculty and staff.

Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn the use of an electronic health record system (EHR) and use of the system to maintain documentation of the student'

s medical information is required. The UHC is a paper-free health care facility.

Ability to use multiple software programs, primarily Microsoft Office including Outlook email and calendar, and the internet.

Job duties to include providing COVID-19 response (testing and respiratory clinic duties)

Weekend availability required.

Requirements :

Advanced practice Nursing degree from an accredited nursing school

Current Virginia provider license and prescriptive authority and DEA license

Primary Care clinical experience, college-age group preferred. Ability to work well with college-age students in a friendly, student-focused and, at times, fast-paced environment.

Must meet other credentialing and privileging criteria to be accepted into the position.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
