The role supports the PMA-275 in the Software Integrated Product Team (IPT) in Patuxent River, Maryland. JOB DESCRIPTION: As a software engineer for SAIC, this person will be working as part of the NAVAIR PMA-275 Software Integrated Product Team (IPT) in support of the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft. The position involves working as part of the government team in a Contract Support Services (CSS) role assisting with software acquisition. JOB DUTIES:- Conduct software acquisition tasking in support PMA-275 in the Software Integrated Product Team (IPT).
- Conduct technical analysis of V-22 avionics systems and software issues.
- Coordinate with other PMA-275 IPTs on technical, cost, and schedule impacts of software changes.
- Aid in development of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), including writing statements of work and conducting technical reviews of contractor proposals.
- Provide technical inputs on schedules, integration, and test activities of industry suppliers and other government organizations as it relates to V-22 avionics software.
- Participate in SETR design reviews and technical reviews as part of the software development process.
- Apply knowledge of current avionics development standards including DO-178 and Design Assurance Levels for mission-critical code.
- Provide technical briefings and status reporting to Software IPT leadership, senior military officers, and Program leadership at PMA-275.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related major (Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar discipline. Course work completed must include the following foundational computer science disciplines: computer architecture; algorithm design and development; programming languages and methodologies; data structures; and computational logic) and 2+ years of relevant software development experience. Relevant experience must include demonstrated software development experience, including all phases of the software development process/lifecycle (e.g., requirements analysis, design, development, component testing, integration, integration testing, deployment/installation, and sustainment)
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Web based applications using JAVA and JavaScript or equivalent languages
- Experience with Micro services architectures, MVC design pattern, and Test Driven Development
- Recent experience developing object-oriented and or service-oriented software
- Experience working on a team with five or more developers
- Experience with CI/CD design, implementation and execution
- Experience workings with containerization using Spring Boot and Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience working in an Agile development environment and delivering well-written software
- Candidate must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a Full DoD Secret Clearance. SAIC will sponsor qualified candidates for a security clearance.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Experience working on government funded programs
