The CAD Operator is a member of the manufacturing engineering team that fills the gap between design and production. This position reports to the manufacturing engineering lead, but must be able to work independently as a liaison between the design team and the production team. The CAD specialist must be digitally savvy and able to demonstrate strong drawing and modeling capabilities in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor prefered. A minimum of 2 years experience operating relevant software is required. Room to grow for the right candidate.
Job Requirements and Skills
Exceptional organizational and project management skills
Very detail oriented with an emphasis on precision and accuracy
Happy to work as part of a team but capable of seeing projects through independently
Comfortable with repetitive tasks, tight deadlines and time sensitive projects
2D Autocad Drawing
3D Modeling - Inventor, Fusion 360, Solidworks or similar
Excel spreadsheets or similar
Technical drawing ability with knowledge of industry standards and expectations
Competency with fabrication and machine shop measurement tools: tape measure, micrometer, calipers, dial indicators, protractors etc.
Job Responsibilities
Facilitate part and assembly production by taking finished designs from engineering and delivering a manufacturing instruction package to the shop floor
Maintain and update a part and assembly database
Execute Engineering Change Orders and ensure all relevant parties are notified of changes
Managing part and assembly production to ensure timelines are met and the correct parts are delivered
Working from an engineering model - generate the 2D and 3D drawings/models needed to create parts on a mill, waterjet, lathe and press brake
Create technical drawings for both parts and assemblies
Create construction drawings needed to fabricate welded assemblies
Gathering and delivering completed orders
