Job Description

The Human Resource Generalist will perform the daily Human Resource (HR) department functions of the Christian Brothers Automotive Corporation (CBAC) Home Office (not franchise locations). Some duties will include setting up and managing job postings, resume screening, delivering candidate assessments, coordinating interviews, interviewing candidates, gathering onboarding paperwork, assisting with new hire orientation, managing sensitive information related to personnel, and other HR related administrative and project management functions.

  • Assists with Home Office recruiting, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires relevant background checks and employee eligibility verification.
  • Assists in scheduling and coordination for new hire orientation, employee recognition programs, and other HR events.
  • Performs standard tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including new hire onboarding and administrative support for all steps in the employee lifecycle –from beginning to end.
  • Assists HR Manager with employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Administratively supports employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Ensures CBAC compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Assists the HR Manager with future, specialized initiatives, including: Internship Program, Collegiate Recruiting, Workload Management, 360 Feedback Review, Diversity & Inclusion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This is an individual contributor position with no subordinate employees.
  • May oversee the workflow for projects, such as employee reviews, by coordinating with Team Leaders and helping them meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and talent management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Additional Information

Work Environment:This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position requires multitasking while maintaining a high degree of both responsiveness and accuracy.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work from home privileges are available so long as job responsibilities are being fulfilled, and are subject to approval by the HR Manager. Just as reliable transportation to and from the office is expected from an employee, the ability to access internet and phone connectivity is expected to maintain work from home privileges.

Travel: Minimal travel is expected for this position.
