We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility. Job Summary This internship provides support to the Design System Engineering department. Working with a mentor, the intern will learn the basic concepts of electric distribution device coordination. Using modeling software the intern will perform engineering functions involving fault analysis studies, load and reach calculations, device coordination with fuses, VFIs, hydraulic reclosers, sectionalizers and other devices. The intern will be expected to learn and understand Dominion's corporate culture of safety, ethics, and inclusion in the work place. Perform other duties as requested or assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience- Enrolled in a 4-year Electrical engineering degree from an ABET accredited Electrical engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET.
- Strongly prefer a concentration in Energy & Power Systems within the Electrical Engineering discipline.
- Students should have a graduation date Fall 2024 - Dec 2026
- Must have a 2.5 GPA or greater.
- Introduction to engineering concepts and fundamentals.
- Personal computer software applications including Microsoft Office.
- Verbal, written and interpersonal communication; time management and organization; math and technical aptitude.
- Effectively interact and work in a team environment; attention to detail; understand and apply work flow process.
- Physical attributes to perform essential function of the job in the field and during storm trouble - walking, climbing, stooping, bending and prolonged standing.
- 90% office and 10% outside
- Student must be enrolled in 4-year program or in a 2-year program with intent to transfer to 4-year institution.
- Engineering-degreed students in an ABET accredited program will NOT be considered for this position. All Engineering Technology degrees are acceptable. Interest in Building and Construction project management a plus.
- Preferred degrees: Eng Tech, Const Mgmt, Business, Economics, Education
- Must have a 2.5 GPA or greater.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive a company vehicle.
