Senior Project Manager – Power Market (Renewable Energy)Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time senior project manager position in our Power Market. The ideal candidate could be located in one of our offices or 100% remote.The world is undergoing a global energy transition and Hanson is proud to be working with our clients on renewable energy generation and delivery projects. Your work at Hanson will balance the societal benefits of the built environment with the preservation and function of the natural environment.Position ProfileThis position requires management of the full project life cycle to meet client and Hanson’s expectations regarding scope, budget/financial performance, schedule, quality,communications, risk management and health and safety of project staff. The successful candidate will work directly or indirectly with clients, business development staff and project/market principals. He or she will coordinate with Hanson’s Practice Areas to staff each project and will subcontract as needed to fulfill project and client needs. We are looking for a creative and dedicated individual who will fit with our collaborative project-team culture. The job generally requires some travel, and overtime hours, especially around end-of-month accounting deadlines and when there are overlapping project schedules.A Day in Life of a Project Manager at HansonA project manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, executing, and controlling/monitoring of the scope of services, budget, schedule, deliverables, and resources to accomplish the project objectives. Senior Project Managers are typically responsible for large, complex projects.Here’s a snapshot of what you would do in this role:

Implement a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration on projects.

Meet with clients to take detailed project scoping briefs and clarify the specific requirements of each project, and develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members.

Collaborate with technical staff within Hanson’s Practice Areas.

Delegate project tasks based on staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels.

Interact with construction contractors, their staff, and subcontractors.

Guide and participate in assembling reports, plans, specifications, and other project deliverables.

Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals.

Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analyses.

Plan and conduct project team meetings, both internal and external, and follow up on issue resolution.

Use and continually develop leadership skills.

Keep abreast of regulatory and technical challenges facing Power Market clients.

What We’re Looking ForThe following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:Technical Skills:

Demonstrates ability to manage multiple, related projects and navigate complex activities that span business units, organizations, regions and/or cultures and has aligned results with organizational goals.

Can develop complete project management plans (inclusive of all sub-parts such as change management plan, risk management plan, communications plan, health and safety plan, quality control plan, etc.).

Understanding of the technical requirements of energy generation and delivery projects.

Can generate and negotiate scope and fee estimates for complex, multi-discipline professional service agreements.

Ability to and experience leading meetings with clients, technical staff, and other project stakeholders.

Can demonstrate knowledge of or quickly gain an understanding of basic accounting terms and accrual-based revenue recognition process and has ability to read and understand project budget/financial reports.

Can demonstrate understanding of earned value methodology and other project controls, such as scheduling and change management (scope creep).

Has demonstrated commitment to quality control procedures.

Has completed a training program focused on Project Management.

Can read and understand client and subcontractor agreements and has had or can complete contract risk review training.

Soft Skills:

Has the ability to develop professional relationships with clients. Serves as a trusted advisor to one or more clients and can develop repeat business from those clients.

Must be able to develop new business with existing clients and/or new clients and can assist with project capture plans and tactical strategy for generating winning proposals and leading project team interviews.

Must be able to communicate technical concepts to engineers, clients, and other project stakeholders after consulting with or in collaboration with project team technical resources.

Must have proven ability to communicate with the public and interact positively with clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors.

Must be able to build effective relationships with internal and external client bases and be able to effectively work with and manage project staff.

Must be able to work independently and as a team member to solve problems and learn new technical skills.

Can demonstrate ability to develop a deep knowledge of Power Market client challenges and needs.

Can demonstrate team and client leadership capability and conflict resolution skills.

Interested in experiencing a variety of projects.

Education/Experience:

Minimum 8 years’ experience in project management, preferably in renewable energy generation and/or electricity transmission fields.

Bachelor’s (BS) degree in engineering, architecture, natural sciences, construction management or other discipline with demonstrated ability to understand the technical requirements of the projects; graduate degree preferred.

Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification is a plus.

Familiarity with collaboration and project management software tools (e.g., SmartSheet, iAccess, Deltek Vision Resource/Project Planning, Microsoft Project, AEC360/Microsoft Dynamics 365) or ability to learn them is required.

Experience with project process workflow and developing project work breakdown structures.

Advanced time management and analytical skills.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Project and a basic understanding of Project Scheduling Platforms.

Excellent project team and client-facing communication skills.
