Job Description

The Collections Specialist is responsible for collecting outstanding accounts receivable dollars from existing customers and all other aspects of collections, resolving customer billing problems and reducing accounts receivable delinquency. This position reports directly to an accounting manager.

Key responsibilities for this position include but, are not limited to the following:

  • Collecting AR dollars on delinquent accounts per our company policies
  • Reviewing open accounts for collection efforts
  • Making outbound collection calls in a professional manner while keeping and improving customer relations
  • Resolving customer billing issues and rescuing customer delinquency issues
  • Applying outstanding customer service in adherence with our company culture
  • Identifying issues contributing to the delinquencies and reporting them to your manager
  • Pull reporting from company systems allowing you to analyze the priorities you need to be working on
  • Managing relationships with any 3rdparty collections agencies
  • Updating customer information within the collections system to allow for accurate billing, document delivery, and collection efforts
  • Providing timely follow up with internal and external customers
  • Assisting customers with the automated collections solutions we have in place
  • Providing documentation to customers per their request including BOLs and PODs
  • Other work-related tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

Required experience includes:

  • A minimum of two years of work history in a similar position including interactions directly with a large customer base
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proven customer service skills including relationship building, dispute resolution, and tact
  • Problem solving and analytical skills are required
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changes in your environment
  • Proficient skill set with Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Must have an attention to detail and maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Self-discipline

Ideal candidates will also possess:

  • McLeod software experience
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • College degree from an accredited bachelors’ program
