Database Documentation SpecialistBoston, MA100% RemoteContract$50/hr - $60/hrOverview:We are seeking an experienced Database Documentation Specialist on a contract basis to play a crucial role in documenting our legacy SQL database systems. This role is pivotal in preparing for a significant modernization project aimed at enhancing our data handling and analytical capabilities.Key Responsibilities:

System Documentation : Thoroughly document the existing SQL database structures, including tables, relationships, stored procedures, views, and functions.

Data Mapping : Create detailed data maps illustrating the flow of information within the legacy systems.

Collaboration : Work closely with IT staff and database managers to understand and accurately document the existing systems.

Best Practices : Recommend documentation standards and best practices for database management.

Gap Analysis : Identify potential risks, data integrity issues, or inefficiencies in current systems.

Modernization Support : Provide essential documentation to support the transition to new database systems.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in database management, with a strong focus on SQL databases.

Proven track record of documenting complex database systems.

Excellent understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.

Ability to interpret and document complex database systems for a non-technical audience.

Familiarity with data modeling and mapping tools.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Contract Details:

Duration: 6-12 months (with potential for extension based on project needs).

Location: Remote with occasional on-site meetings.

Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience.
