supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Resident Assistant performs direct

resident care, assists with activities of daily living and provides a

safe environment in which the residents live. Essential Duties and

Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is not

responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Administer medications to residents. Answers all call lights promptly

and pendants promptly Encourages active participation of residents in

meeting their needs by promoting individualized, restorative care,

attending activities, council meetings, and family involvement. Feeds

and/or assists residents with meals, encourages the use of adaptive

devices. Observes and reports pertinent information concerning changes

in behavior or physical state of a resident to the charge nurse.

Explains all procedures to residents before carrying them out. Receives

assignments and instructions from the charge nurse and refers to

resident care sheet for specific care needs. Light Housekeeping as

needed or directed. Demonstrates prevention and intervention used in

caring for the confused, wandering or combative resident. Frequently

must perform funder the stress created by normal office practices (such

as deadlines and standards) and other environmental stressors evident in

health care settings (such as shift rotation, weekend and holiday duty,

unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a

loved one in the long term care facility, death and dying, oversight of

state surveyors, ombudsmen, and federal officials, presence of

consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement with medical staff).

Performs other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor(s) of
