First National Bank Alaska, FNBA, is seeking an analyst or our BSA/AML Unit. This position fulfills regulatory requirements relating to suspicious activity reporting in support of the bank's Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Program by monitoring account activity reports and system alerts for potentially suspicious activity; researching account activity, documenting findings, and determining whether a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) should be filed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Monitors accounts to satisfy investigating, evaluating, and risk assessment procedures set forth by the bank; monitors medium- and high-risk accounts for potential suspicious activity by reviewing the previous/existing SAR filings, investigating account activity and comparing it to appropriate trends.

2. Documents findings of investigation in bank's database; determines whether SAR should be filed and recommends further coding of account to establish appropriate monitoring and reporting.

3. Investigates potential suspicious activity alerts identified by the bank's system databases and reports; determines whether the activity is suspicious by identifying and documenting bank's relationship with the account holder and gathering additional information from various sources within the bank as appropriate.

4. Generates SARs to be filed with Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FINCEN) and submits to supervisor for review; data enters all necessary information into bank's database and documents findings of all investigations that did not result in a SAR filing.

5. Monitors government and industry resources, and participates in training to keep current on regulatory changes and financial crimes trends; assists supervisor in training Unit's junior staff and reviewing their work.

6. Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum: Associate’s degree in a business related field plus three years banking, business or related field; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.

Preferred: One year compliance or regulatory related experience. Knowledge of anti-money laundering regulations.
