Job Description:The Ruth J. Simmons Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice (Simmons Center) is a scholarly research and public humanities Center at Brown University that supports and generates rigorous and accessible research, performance, art, and scholarship on a broad range of pressing issues related to understanding the issues and legacies of racial slavery, the making of the modern world to make a difference. The Center Manager works with the Center Director and Associate Director on strategic planning management of all financial, administrative, and human resource operations as well as academic programs and events for an interdisciplinary scholarly and research center.This position is hybrid-eligible.Why Brown? Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in an academic setting is a plus.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience providing high-level management/operational support in an academic setting.

Strong budgetary and financial planning skills.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Proven ability to evaluate and make sound recommendations on complex issues.

Familiarity with university operations, including facilities, finance, and project management, is a plus.

Well-developed team collaboration skills.

Proficiency in using computers and computer applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Google Suite. Workday is a plus.

Able to Interface and build relationships with Simmons Center community members, including the Board members, students, faculty, and other university staff.

Some nights and weekends might be required.

Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
