Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.Unit Position SummaryTypical duties include:

Provide independent assistance to all visitors in-person and by phone. Level of assistance may vary from very basic to highly complex;

Apply library policies and procedures with visitors and student employees;

Provide support to student employees by helping with questions and covering the service desk;

Triage and direct highly complex problems to the appropriate service sponsor in IT Services, University services, or the Libraries for resolution;

Maintain statistics on activities;

Provide basic and intermediate research service in-person and by phone.

Required qualifications and skills:Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a technical or service support center, or in a reference environment; or an equivalent of education and experience.Desired QualificationsDesired qualifications/ Skills Preferred:

Commitment to excellent customer service and high level of professionalism;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Capable of and comfortable with providing effective technical information and support over the phone and in-person;

Proficiency with the Libraries’ electronic resources and Business databases in particular;

Proficiency in conducting a reference interview and providing general informational and reference service over the phone and face-to-face;

Productive team member in both collaborative and independent work environments
