Job Description

Position Summary

:

The Human Resources Manager partners with Senior Leadership and local management team while developing and leading the HR Functions for both Washington, NC and Parma, OH locations. This position provides a wide range of functions including HR Strategy, Leadership, Organizational and Cultural Development, Talent Acquisition and Management, Performance Management, Employee Engagement/Wellness, Compensation, Employee Relations, HR Policies & Procedures, and Legal compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Identifies implications for organizational strategy along with recommendations to support longer term business growth. Collaborates with management to identify change management implications and leads change. Coaches business leaders and their teams on the development of others. Helps identify development opportunities for talent within the business unit and tracks progress on development action plans. Drives and facilitates management team in HR planning, assessment, and succession plan reviews.Acts as employee engagement champion – coordinates the delivery of engagement survey, works with leadership to analyze results, and advises on action plans. Facilitates awareness of engagement and cultural opportunities within the business. Supports the ITW performance management cycle, advising and coaching in areas of goal setting, mid-year feedback activities, annual performance review and the compensation planning process.Facilitates talent review activities within assigned locations. Helps administer 9-box assessments with local and functional leaders.Serves as champion of the ITW Values, Leadership Expectations and the ITW Business Philosophies.Addresses Employee Relations matters including ethics investigations, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, etc.Works with functional leaders to manage talent acquisition activities: Supports exempt and non-exempt level recruiting, talent upgrade efforts as necessary and advises on market compensation requirements. Coordinates recruitment projects from job scoping activity to offer phase.Organizes and conducts new employee orientation; creates a positive first impression of the company and serves as a role model for ITW values.Inputs and maintains employee data in the HRIS system such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for reporting. Prepares regular and special reports using HRIS.Prepares employee communication documents including new hire, disability, benefit, separation notices and related documentation. Coordinates management/employee training in topics including interview skills, performance management, giving feedback, ITW leadership expectations and culture, etc.Manages compensation planning for exempt, non-exempt production and technical roles using wage surveys. Applies ITW job banding system to ensure consistency of job grading.Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance. Active role in development of Affirmative Action Plan within the division. Ensures compliance with required legal postings on bulletin boards.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar field of study. Minimum of 5 years as HR Generalist role, 1-2 years of HR leadership experience is preferred. Strong business partnership capabilities: Ability to learn and adapt to our changing business, assess talent, understand financial P & Ls, and become familiar with our industry and its implications for our division. In concert with management, builds and drives a positive employee culture. Champions diversity and inclusion goals, strategies and plans. Actively participates in Employee Communications. Provides high-touch HR support to the business. Oversees company and community events. Fosters continuous improvement by analyzing processes, monitoring effectiveness, and identifying actions to reduce complexity and/or enhance operational performance. Utilizes data to drive decisions and ensure accurate recordkeeping/data integrity is maintained.

Builds and drives employee engagement. Advises and coaches business unit management on resolving employee issues. Manages complex or significant employee relations issues. Analyzes employment-related concerns, patterns, and business needs to proactively develop and implement action plans to address pervasive issues. Leads performance management cycle for locations, including providing training, overseeing mid-year/ annual reviews, conducts job evaluations, and advises salary ranges, using relevant market data as needed to maintain competitiveness. Directs, recommends and proactively communicates appropriate local implementation of HR policies, practices, and initiatives. Ensures legal and regulatory compliance, including: equal employment opportunity/affirmative action, wage and hour, and work authorization. Leads any local Visa processes, as needed. Possesses strong written/verbal communication skills; demonstrates good listening skills; able to communicate status on process with colleagues, keep team members informed, and responds clearly to employee inquiries. Demonstrates a positive friendly attitude in working with all levels within the organization.Independent and organized work style; effectively manages and prioritizes workload, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision, adapt to change, and consistently meet deadlines. Ability to make independent decisions and regularly suggest ways to improve services and processes.Strong technical skills/aptitude: Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word and Excel). Experience with HRIS systems (Workday).Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.Ability to travel up to 10% to Parma, OH, Hebron and Glenview, IL locations.
