Full-time Bookseller, Book Sorting Focus, Roundabout Books

Roundabout Books is seeking a full-time bookseller to be a part of our team. Roundabout is an independent, used and new bookstore in Greenfield, Massachusetts. In addition to our storefront, we operate an extensive used book and media sorting facility and ship books all over the world. Our environment is quiet and fast-paced. Our team is highly-focused, good-natured, and respectful, with a strong sense of artisanship. We would value finding someone who was equally ready to bring their focused, efficient work every day.

Ideally, for this job, you would love books and not easily grow weary of them. Our booksellers help in all shop operations, assisting in whatever arena help is needed, including shipping, shelving, and clerking, but the main focus of this position is sorting the books that come to us through donations and purchases. We bring in thousands of books each week and and often the sorting of these books involves actually climbing into 800 lb crates, working through these books from top to bottom. It can be physically demanding. We find that this book sorting process is learned over time, with booksellers progressively developing expertise in assessing books for condition and content. We are willing and happy to teach these skills, and openness to feedback and intellectual curiosity are essential to making the job both effective and enjoyable.

This position is a full-time, 40-hour/ week, hourly position. If we do not fill our full-time positions, we will seek to hire a part-time position, for which you can also be considered by submitting a résumé. Roundabout supports Massachusetts’s anti-discrimination laws: if you are the best candidate, we want you. Kindly email your résumé and a cover letter to Roundabout Books, sending both the résumé and cover letter as an attachment.
