As an Electrician, you will:

Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, access control systems, building security systems, fire alarm systems and HVAC controls.

Interpret and use schematics and blueprint drawings to complete the installation and troubleshooting of electrical conduit systems, wiring, and device termination in a commercial setting.

Ensure compliance with regulations with Building, Electrical, and Fire Codes, and standards and guidelines of the university and department.

What you bring to the position (minimum qualifications):

High school or equivalent experience.

1+ year of experience with electrical and low voltage system installation.

Knowledge of building systems and construction such as electrical systems, codes, and supporting systems.

State of Nebraska apprentice or journeyman electrical license.

Ability to follow university and departmental standards and guidelines.

Ability to comprehend complex and technical information.

Ability to research, read, interpret, and work with project blueprints and specifications.

Strong documentation skills, well organized, and able to manage and make progress on multiple tasks at one time.

Valid driver’s license and able to meet University driver eligibility requirements.

Additional Preferred Qualifications (not required, but considered for position level):

Associate degree in electrical, electronic, or HVAC/R or related field.

Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of access control systems, building security systems, HVAC controls, and/or fire alarm systems in a commercial setting.

Experience researching, reading, interpreting, working with, and ensuring compliance with blueprints, specifications, and regulations of building, electrical, and fire code.

Experience training and overseeing others.

Experience as job foreman on large construction projects with complex scopes, increased responsibilities, and elevated budget.

Basic computer skills or advanced skills with experience in EMCS, access controls, and/or fire alarm system interface programs.

Note: Job duties and pay are determined by level of experience, skills, abilities, and licensures. Apprentice-level electrician will have appropriate supervision.

Higher level positions may also:

Train and oversee others.

Provide confirmation of scope, schedule, and budget requirements on all work assignments and coordinate changes in a timely manner.

Oversee projects that require leadership of significant improvement projects with complex scopes, increased responsibilities, and elevated budgets.

This position must be available by phone to address work-related issues and may be required to perform work in addition to and outside of the normal scheduled shift.
