Job Summary: The Controls and Electrical Sales Executive position leads the Electrical and Controls Business Development. This position is responsible to grow, develop and manage owner, end users, develop relationships and meeting sales goals and maintaining customer satisfaction for the company.

The Controls and Electrical Sales Executive shall incorporate the United Mechanical Vision and Business Strategy by providing “Proactive World Class Service” to the markets served, based on Profitability, Credibility, Employee Base Environment, Customer Service, and Quality.

Essential Functions:

With direction from the supervising manager, sells the United Mechanical offerings persuasively, persistently, and confidently to building owners while reaching optimal profit levels.

Focuses on improving the existing building to allow the building owner to achieve business objectives. 

Manages ongoing opportunities particularly focusing on selling services and retrofits. Sells, contract renewals, and expands renewable service agreements, including multi-year agreements, to both new and existing customers.

Builds partnering relationships with the owner or owner representatives responsible for the decision-making process to drive the sale of United Mechanical’s services and offerings. 

Actively listens, probes, and identifies concerns.  Understands the customer's business and speaks their language. 

Seeks out, targets and initiates contact with multiple prospective customers.  Keeps manager informed of sales progress and changes in the marketplace.  Develops and maintains a network of contacts.  Understands and leverages the sales process as well as demonstrates evidence of gaining small trial closes.  Shares technical knowledge plus operations expertise (when to maintain, when to replace) with the customer. 

Addresses customer's operational and environmental objectives, needs and requirements.  Recommends solutions and links customer objectives to total value solution and competitive advantage. 

Positively and credibly influences service strategies with owners.  Frequently creates competitive, high quality and timely estimates, proposals, and cost/benefit analysis. Effectively writes and presents proposals. Verifies each new proposal with supervising manager prior to presenting it to the customer. With support from the supervising manager negotiates value, addresses resistance, and closes the sale. 

Acts as the customer’s advocate in interactions with United Mechanical to ensure the customer obtains the best value from the United Mechanical offerings.  Sets appropriate customer expectations on United Mechanical product and service offerings.  Participates in final project inspection with the supervising manager. 

Keeps management informed of progress and account status.  Calls for assistance from manager to keep the sales process moving. 

Track and submit a sales pipeline report weekly to the Controls and Electrical Manager.

Attends and presents at trade show.  Participates in professional organizations.

Ability and eagerness to learn about Reliable Controls products to determine potential markets and applications for their deployment.

Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering is strongly desired, although a combination of education and experience will also be considered.

At least 5+ years of HVAC Controls industry sales experience preferred, although candidates with less than 5 years directly related industry sales experience will also be considered if the candidate has extensive operational experience and or a combination of Sales and Controls experience or a bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.

Requires technical and financial expertise to estimate and sell technical solutions and service product lines effectively and independently.

Must have a “hunter” sales mentality

Related professional certifications preferred.

Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License in good standing.

Must be able to pass a background check.

Developed computer and organization skills.

Excellent logistics, communication, and management skills.

Ability to multi-task.

Strong working knowledge of control system design, specifically for HVAC systems.

Strong working knowledge of BAS control components (AI, UI, DO, DI, Relays, Triacs, etc.).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is occasionally active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift controls equipment and materials, up to 40 pounds.
