Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled, hard-working Painter to join the Facilities Department at MSK. In this role, you will assist in routine and specialized painting projects that maintain the condition and appearance of our hospital buildings and facilities. Are you passionate about your craft? You Will:

Assess and prepare jobs to be completed by preparing necessary equipment and tools needed; prepares surface/site (e.g., removes old finishes, smooth surfaces, repairs holes/scratches).

Apply paint, varnishes, stains, enamels lacquers, and wall coverings to wall, woodwork, floors, fixtures and furniture.

Selects premixed paint or mixes paint to achieve desired color. Participates in demolition and masonry.

Respond to customer questions or requests demonstrating courteous and professional customer service

Maintain a clean, orderly and secure work environment.

Ensure proper care and use of tools, equipment, supplies and materials.

Take necessary precautions to follow institutional, departmental, or regulatory agency safety requirements. Participates as a member of the Fire Brigade as required.

Documents time worked, work order status, and supplies needed for each assignment.

Orients and trains new staff to specific trade and facilities division practices. On a rotating basis as assigned and in the absence of shop management, performs operational duties to ensure that shop workflow runs smoothly. Apprises shop management of activities occurring during their absence.

Demolish block work and concrete pads and replace them and prepare surface for tiling grouting

You Need:

Post apprentice trade, wallpaper estimation and application, and experience with murals required

Experience in decorative paint finishes preferred

Ability to comprehend simple trade diagrams

Knowledge in tiling preferred

Sufficient knowledge to handle assignments of routine and non-routine difficulty with minimal supervision.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

Schedule:

Full time: Flexible hours weekends as needed.
