Programmer Analyst

Description A reputable company in need of a PART TIME Programmer Analyst has partnered with Robert Half to find someone with a passion for formulating and defining systems scope and objectives who also has a strong understanding of software and applications programming and industry requirements. You would provide guidance on developing or altering applications or databases, employing research and fact-finding techniques. Analyzes and documents issues. Works with other programmers to correct code problems

Build and assess programming changes for every phase of systems development prior to implementation. Record test cases and expected results. Ensure results meet requirements. May develop basic tests or a defined subset of a larger system test. May make suggestions regarding acceptance/rejection if not all requirements are met

Creates and updates dictionaries for applications and systems support by the analyst

Supports end users and other partner groups, providing ongoing training and assistance for a particular application, system or process

Evaluates user requests for systems changes or improvements. Registers functional requirements and reviews cost, feasibility and utility. Recommends how, when and whether to make the changes

Evaluates processing procedures and suggests ways to improve

Assists internal clients with applications, systems and/or processes for identifying and resolving, processing/reporting programming problems. Provides consultation that can include troubleshooting and/or education

Helps develop communication content for particular system changes being implemented in production

Requirements - 5+ years experience as a project leader for the business portion of developmental applications or major systems improvements

Programming language knowledge required

Excellent oral and written communication skills

RPG IV experience

Experience with RPG

Proficiency in IBM RPG/400

Expertise in IBM RPG II

IBM - RPG experience desired

Command of PC and mainframe hardware/software
