Job DescriptionAs a Sr. Director of Software Development, you will build and lead the Strategic Acceleration and Incubation Teams for OCI’s Technical Strategy & Oversight Organization. The charter is to ensure the success of projects at the intersection of criticality and urgency. You will work with executive leadership to identify opportunities critical to the success of Oracle Cloud that either cut across multiple lines of business, require rapid surging of senior technical leadership, or are so foundational to our strategy as to require direct executive oversight and execution. You will work with our most senior technical leaders to define, design, and develop solutions to our most pressing problems and then ensure they reach maturity before spinning them back out into the organization.These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives across disciplines such as implementing load and fault injection tools for chaos regions, providing canonical implementation of core components for data planes, and defining and implementing new platforms for running OCI services.Responsibilities

Direct, lead and coach engineering teams to deliver successful products and services.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation within the organization.

Launching new cloud services and establishing operational excellence.

Setting the technical direction for foundational architectural components of OCI Service.

Building high performing geographically distributed engineering teams.

Coaching, mentoring, and developing best talent.

Establishing and stimulating software development standards and processes along with best practices for the entire org

Developing strategic plans to accomplish technical as well as business objectives with leadership chain, team, and customers.

Defining new KPIs to inform decision making and prioritization.

Sets Goals and Expectations for performance and works with employees to establish specific, measurable goals and commitments.

Basic Qualifications:

5+ years of management experience in enterprise software, with management of managers

7+ years of experience with applications development with 2+ years in large scale distributed applications / web services

Proficient at programming in Java, Python

Bachelors in computer science and Engineering or related engineering fields

Preferred Qualifications:

10+ years of experience

Prior development experience with Metering service in Cloud or experience with Data Pipelines

Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields

ResponsibilitiesAs a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
