Accountant

Based in the Providence, Rhode Island region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity where effort is rewarded. As Staff Accountant, your duties will include preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a time commitment, since it produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, your will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.Key responsibilities

Participate in various department-wide initiatives

Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process

Maintain monthly payment schedules

Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision

Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

Accounts Payable (AP) experience highly desired

Knowledge of Prepare Journal Entries

Account reconciliation experience

Adeptness in Accounts Receivable (AR)

Foundational knowledge in Accounts Payable (AP)

Month end closings experience

Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills

Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

Skilled with ERP systems

Detailed and have the ability work independently

Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

Recent and relevant accounting experience
