Payroll Specialist

Description As a Payroll Specialist at a Construction Engineering Firm, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees. You will collaborate closely with the HR and Finance departments to manage all aspects of payroll administration, including but not limited to:

Processing bi-weekly or monthly payroll for employees across various departments and locations

Calculating wages, overtime, deductions, and commissions.

Verifying timesheets and resolving any discrepancies.

Managing employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.

Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.

Generating payroll reports and maintaining accurate payroll records.

Addressing employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll matters.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Strong understanding of payroll principles, practices, and regulations.

Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., JD Edwards, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.

Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Union or multi-state payroll experience preference
